JARAPAS have been used since time immemorial to meets the needs of the home, which is where they were woven. The word itself comes from HARAPOS, or old scraps of cloth, which were they not used in the fabrication of the JARAPA, would have been thrown away.
HILACAR is the only workshop which still uses these authentic traditional techniques, thereby keeping alive a part of the Alpujarras’ textile tradition.
